Understanding User Roles
This article will give you an understanding of roles and what they do. You’ll learn to create roles and apply them to users.
In Clik Compliance, we have several default roles, including ‘Engineer’, ‘Admin’, ‘Office Manager’, and ‘Senior Engineer’. These roles are assigned specific permissions that align with their respective responsibilities. For instance, engineers can create and edit a certificate, but cannot create users as that privilege is reserved for the admin role.
Let’s now create a new role. This role will be for a ‘Service Coordinator’ who needs access to view, edit and assign certificates to engineers.
First, go to ‘Staff’ > ‘Roles’.

Once in the roles section, you will see some default options already in the list, but to create a new one, select ‘Create New Role’.

Now type in the name of your role, in this example ‘Service Coordinator’
Next, you can mark it as a ‘Default’, meaning new users will automatically be assigned this role, and ‘Public’ if you want others to view this role beyond admin users.

Next, you need to set the permissions for this role. Go to the tab ‘Permissions’ and select the permissions you desire for the role you have created. In this case, we’ve gone for ‘Certificate Management’ and selected ‘Creating new Certificates’, ‘Editing Certificates’ and ‘Assigning to users’

Once you’re happy with your selection, click ‘Save’ to save your role.

Assigning roles to users.
To assign your role to a user, go to Staff > Users.

Select the user, go to the ‘Roles’ tab, tick the role you wish the user to have, and then click ‘Save Roles’.

That’s it, the user now has the new role you created.
