Changing Project Costing Methods
This article will explain the different costing methods you can choose in a project and how they calculate costs.
To select a costing method in a project, Click ‘Change’ next to the costing method.
Costing Methods
- Use PI Items, PO Items and Job Costing Items: This costing method will find any items listed in POs and PIs linked to the project but also any items in job costing. Please be aware though if the item is on a job and is also on the PO or PI, it will be duplicated in the costing method.
- Total Job Value: This costing method will take all items (times & materials) associated with linked jobs to the project.
- Total PO Value: This costing method will calculate all Purchase Order items associated and by default job time items.
- Total PI Value: This costing method will take all items from any Purchase Invoice associated with a project and job sheet time items.
- PO Items linked back to project job sheet items: This costing method will only use items from purchase orders that are also linked to jobs from the project, plus time items from those jobs.
- PI Items linked back to project job sheet items: This costing method will only use items from purchase invoices that are also linked to jobs from the project, plus time items from those jobs.
- Job Items linked back to Job Costing: This costing method is similar to total job value and will only calculate the cost of all items on jobs associated with job costing on the project
- PO Items linked back to Job Costing: This costing method is similar to total PO value and will only calculate the cost of all items on purchase orders associated with job costing on the project.
- PI Items linked back to Job Costing: This costing method is similar to total PI value and will only calculate the cost of all items on purchase invoices associated with job costing on the project.
If you don’t want time items added from job sheets you can go to Settings > Settings > Modules > Projects and untick ‘Always add jobsheet labour to cost’.
You can also view on an individual item bases by clicking the information button at the bottom of a project.
