Specialist software developer Clik Ltd has been appointed by Daikin Air Conditioning to develop a ‘portable electronic catalogue’ to help air conditioning engineers access information and order Daikin’s products via their handheld PDA devices for the first time.
The online catalogue, or Technical Resource Library, will provide detailed specifications and prices for over 600 Daikin products.
By using their handheld devices, air conditioning engineers will be able to order products whether they are in the office or out on site. Orders are sent straight to Daikin, speeding up the buying process.
The software will be distributed free of charge to Daikin customers and provided as part of an incentive scheme for resellers and distributors. It will also be used by the company’s own sales team.
Geoff Adams, Managing Director of Clik Ltd, said: “This tool will make life much easier for engineers who are out and about on site and need to access information about products quickly and easily.
“It will save them time and effort and mean they can get answers to their technical questions quickly and efficiently,” he adds. “As you will be able to order the products there and then it will mean you can get on with the task in hand.”
The portable electronic catalogue is the latest in a series of projects that Clik has carried out for Daikin since they started working together in 1996. Other projects include the development of an intranet with managed content and a PC-based electronic catalogue.
Daikin also uses Clik’s AC Calc, which has become the industry’s standard software for calculating heat loss and gain in air conditioning systems. Daikin’s distributors have also been provided with Clik Service, a version of Clik’s business management software.
