A VPN will help you work remotely and take the worry and uncertainty out of continuing to manage your business until life returns to normal. So if you’re new to working remotely, have a look at what a VPN is and how it can help you work from home.
What is a VPN?
In simple terms, a VPN (or Virtual Private Network) offers a secure way to connect to the internet. It encrypts the data you send over the connection to protect it, while also giving you better levels of privacy online and allowing remote workers access to your network in the office.
Please note, Clik does not set up VPN’s for customers.
Remote Access VPN
Remote Access VPN is a method that will allow remote working employees to connect to Clik Service and other internal data securely while offsite.
First, you will need a remote access server (RAS), also called the network access server (NAS). This is a server that the user connects with over the internet to access the office network. The second component is the VPN client software. Which establishes the connection to the RAS, and ensures privacy through the encryption process.
This is the technology that is useful for remote workers. Or engineers in the field who require access to Clik Service, NICEIC Cert Software or other resources on the company private network. After the remote worker is authenticated, they are connected to the network back in the office.
(It is best to get your IT department to set up any VPN for you. Clik do not do this sort of thing for customers, unfortunately).
TeamViewer allows you to remotely access and control the desktop of your computers and servers from anywhere, on a 3G or better internet connection. This access is device agnostic and completely secure. Any modern smartphone can now be your window to your workplace.
Go To My PC
Go To My PC designed their technology for maximum speed, security and usability, ensuring you can easily log in and connect to your host computer from any remote computer or mobile device.
Clik Remote Manager
If you use Clik Service, Clik Remote Manager is a handy tool you can use to access your Clik Service database remotely. You’ll be able to see who is working on what at a glance. Manage, track and organise your business, wherever you are. You can assign work to engineers in the field. They can view their diary, site history, jobs and get a customer signature on completion. There is also Clik Remote Sales for your sales team, Clik Remote Engineer for field users working on jobs and Clik Remote Customer, so they are kept informed of the progress of work.
