Software to Help at Work
Communication – Slack
It can be hard to keep in contact with colleagues when you can’t rely on a mid-morning coffee break or simply walk over to their desk. Maintaining a consistent level of communication with your team during this time is crucially important. Make sure to keep staff in the loop with important developments, announcements and any changes to your schedule.
Using communication and collaboration programs like Slack can help you share links, add files and images to give everyone the information they need when they need it.
Video conferencing – Zoom/GoToMeeting
When in the office, face-to-face meetings can be easy to arrange and attend, but with your team working remotely, it can become a lot harder.
Video conferencing can be a fast and easy way to connect you to the rest of your team.
Some web conferencing solutions also offer live webinar features, so you can continue to provide training sessions and other helpful digital events for your clients and customers. Products like Zoom and GoToMeeting will be in high demand at current times.
Project management – Monday.com/Basecamp
Without physical planners or organisers in the office for your team to browse during the day, it can be difficult to know what everyone is working on or what tasks still need to be actioned. Project management software can display exactly what projects are ongoing and allow you to track the progress. Monday.com is a package used at Clik Towers, from managing bug lists to marketing.
Microsoft 365/Microsoft Teams
Microsoft 365 is an integration of all the Office apps you would use on your desktop PC in the office. Get apps like Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more, updated monthly with the latest features. You can use cloud email to reach customers and colleagues wherever work takes you. Clik Service also integrates with Microsoft 365, so you can easily view your calendars and send Outlook emails in Clik Service.
Collaborate in Microsoft Teams, the hub for teamwork where you can chat, organise meetings, and share files. Save files to OneDrive with one terabyte of online storage, allowing access across devices and on the go.
Virtual Private Network
In simple terms, a VPN (or Virtual Private Network) offers a secure way to connect to the internet. It encrypts the data you send over the connection to protect it, while also giving you better levels of privacy online and allowing remote workers access to your network in the office.
Clik Remote
Of course, we have to mention our own product, Clik Remote here. Clik Remote helps you stay connected to your customers, engineers and sales team. It will let you see who is working on what at a glance. Manage, track and organise your business, wherever you are.
Software to Help Outside Work
Working away from co-workers and family when in isolation may have an impact on wellbeing during this time. So it is important to maintain a healthy work environment and take time for yourself.
Here are a couple of apps and websites that could help.
Spotify
Spotify is a digital music, podcast, and video streaming service. That gives you access to millions of songs and other content from artists all over the world. You can create playlists to share with friends and colleagues and have a virtual disco at home whilst using Zoom.
Headspace
Headspace is a meditation app that works with Android or iOS. It provides exercises, videos and other resources to help with mindfulness. Meditation has been shown to help people stress less, focus more and even sleep better.
Social Media
Social platforms may not be for everyone. But there are many options here to ensure that you stay connected to the people that are most important. For businesses, social media can also become a useful communication tool. Useful to reach out to your customers and make sure they are aware of any changes you might be making.
During personal time, it can be useful to adopt social media channels to keep in touch with friends, join local groups to offer help in your area or find out how you can get support. There are also video calling apps – such as Facetime or Whatsapp video call – that will connect you to distant family and friends.
