NICEIC Certification Software at the TechTalks
hello

Hello

This month's news contains our latest technical warblings, some jammed tic tacs and a Clik celebrity connection.

So let's get on with it...

NICEIC TechTalks

NICEIC TechTalks

Our second round NICEIC TechTalks has kicked off - the first two events at Epsom Downs Racecourse and Southampton FC, were a huge success.

The next event will be held at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 7th October. You'll hear three new technical presentations and be offered a tour of the stadium.

Clik will be attending all TechTalk seminars where we will be demonstrating Clik Service and NICEIC Certification Software.

Clik

Clik 4

Work on Clik 4 is steaming ahead and there is huge excitement amongst the programmers. Clik 4 is being written in Microsoft's .NET Framework. .NET is a relatively new thing that has been a fundamental part of Windows for a few years now, by using .NET Clik 4 will be faster, have much closer integration with the internet (Clik Remote) and our developers can use the very latest wizzy functions available in Windows.

The downside is that there will be very few updates for Clik v3 whilst we are working towards releasing Clik 4.

Clik Staff

Staff Social

We had a smashing afternoon out the other week in Somerset making pots, tiles and penguins and the office didn't burn down in our absence, which is always a bonus.

Marie Curie

Charity Events

We have lots of fundraising events going on at Clik towers this month, if you fancy giving us some spare change for worthy causes you can choose from the following:-

The lovely Katie is doing an abseil down the Avon Gorge to raise money for Concern Universal - they support community led initiatives in some of the world's poorest communities such as providing improved healthcare and clean water supplies.

Our very own techies will be leaving the comfort of their computer chairs this Sunday to cycle from Bristol to Bath (and back again) to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. They provide free nursing care to cancer patients and those with other terminal illnesses in their own homes.

Gareth

Meet the team

Name: Gareth Lewis
Clik Job: Software Engineer
Background: Before joining Clik, I spent many years travelling the world, designing and writing telecoms software. In my teens, I used to win competitions singing and playing the cornet (but not at the same time!). These days though, I make do with composing the (very) odd "trance" track on the computers in my home studio. ok, spare bedroom. Sadly, the computers are way better at it than me.
Five things I couldn't live without: Marmite, my armchair, high definition video and surround sound...and my mum.
Pet hates: Motorway drivers that seem magnetically repelled by the "slow" lane.
What magazines / websites / newspapers do you read?: Failblog.org, imdb.com, Metcheck.com.
Tell us a secret: My cousin plays lead guitar in the band Motorhead - he's a *real* musician!

(*That has to be the best secret yet!).
